Is he rehearsing for Stars on Ice? Jim Carrey shows off some impressive moves at the rink

went from funny man to sportsman yesterday as he knocked around a hockey puck at an ice rink in Central Park, New York today.
The 48-year-old showed off some pretty impressive moves as he skated around easily, looking completely at home on ice.
Carrey was joined by his 23-year-old daughter Jane, from his marriage of eight years with his first wife, Melissa Womer.

Pretty impressive stuff:   showed that he knows his way around an ice rink earlier today in Central Park as he skated with his daughter, Jane

Jane, who made Canadian-born Carrey a grandfather back in February when she gave birth to her first child, a son named Jackson, initially didn't partake in any hockey practice.

But she did join her famous father on the ice, skating along with him as he tore around the rink.
However, it seems Carrey's enthusiasm must of been contagious though as Jane couldn't resist picking up a stick of her own eventually and  taking on her dad in an impromptu ice hockey game.

Fun times: Jim and Jane, whose mother is Jim's first wife, Melissa Womer, were clearly having fun as Carrey showed off some of his hockey moves
As they skated around Carrey gave his daughter a free sample of what he gets gets paid millions of dollars for - keeping her amused throughout their skate.
Let's hope that Jim has improved on his game since childhood.
The comedian once shared in an interview that when he played hockey growing up, he got the most penalty minutes in a game... which sounds great, but unfortunately he was the goalie.
Jim and his daughter are obviously close and Jane could not stop stop laughing throughout the entire time.

Close: Despite breaking-up from Jane's mother in 1995 Carrey has strived to remain an integral part of his daughter's life and their bond is apparent
Despite breaking from Jane's mother in 1995, Carrey has always strived to play a pivotal role in his only daughter's life and like any good father he is there for her through good times and bad.
He was by her side proudly walking her down the aisle when she married musician Alex Santana in 2009.
'My Jane is a married woman,' the actor Tweeted afterwards. 'Days ago her and my new son in law Alex got hitched. The day was simply perfect...lots of love there.'
And when he found out Jane was expecting her first child, he quickly took to Twitter once again to announce the happy news to his legions of followers.

Show off: Despite getting the most penalty minutes throughout a game when he was a kid - even though he was the goalie, he seems to be a dab hand with a stick

'I am very excited,' the future grandfather wrote. 'Jane is going to be a great mom.'
Carrey was also very close to his own parents whilst growing up.
Jim's mother, Kathleen died of kidney failure in 1991 though and unfortunately, his father, Percy died of lung cancer and complications from Alzheimer's disease just three years later.
At the time of Jim's birth in Ontario, Canada, Percy was a saxophone player with a big band, but sold his sax and dreams to take a job as an accountant so he could financially support his family.

Up for the challenge: It seems Jane eventually caved in, picked up a stick of her own and played an impromptu game against her dad
However, Percy lost his job when Jim was in the 9th grade, forcing them to sell their house and relocate to Scarborough, where the whole family took on jobs at the Titan Wheels factory as janitors or security guards.
Despite his young age, Jim would work a 8 hour shift directly after school, scrubbing toilets and floors. At one point, the family became homeless and had to live in their VW Camper Van.
Carrey struggled for years before finally making it. And he knew he had hit the really big time when, just three days before his father's death, he was offered ten million dollars for appearing in The Mask.

Nice work if you can get it: Carrey was filming Mr Popper's Penguins with co-star Carla Gugino, the night before in New York

Carrey
It's a tough life: Ever the comedian, Carrey worked hard to keep Gugino amused on-set by clowning around during breaks in filming
Percy, who had fully supported his son's ambitions from the outset, was absolutely delighted by his hard earned success.

In a touching gesture, Jim placed the original check in his father's breast pocket before they closed the coffin.
His father would of been even prouder still of his son if he had been around just two years later when Jim landed a $20 million pay day in 1996 for his starring role in The Cable Guy.
The astronomical salary made Carrey the highest paid comedian ever at that time.

That's one cool grandpa! As well as a doting dad Carrey is now also a devoted grandfather, seen here with Jane and her son Jackson on July 4 in Malibu
