Open casting calls for 'American Idol' have brought out lots of memorable singers, good and bad, but they've also spawned a chance for some young women who are seeking their own versions of the fame they've seen their fathers achieve.
For instance, earlier this week on the 'Idol' auditions show from San
Diego, 24-year-old Jane Carrey, daughter of actor Jim, showed off her
pipes with a rendition of Bonnie Raitt's 'Something to Talk About.'
"The last name definitely helps and hurts," she said. Carrey impressed judges enough to get a ticket to Hollywood.
