Kimberley Walsh is red hot at awards dinner as its revealed she's the latest Girls Aloud star to sign solo record deal

She's already wowed audiences on TV and on the stage in Strictly Come Dancing and Shrek: The Musical.
But now its time to return to what Kimberley became famous for - recording music.
The Yorkshire-native, who looked stunning in a red dress at the Music Industry Trust Awards Dinner on Monday night, is set to release her debut solo album in February next year.

However, unlike her Girls Aloud bandmates Cheryl Cole, Nicola Roberts and Nadine Coyle, she won't be going along the pop route.
Instead, the 30-year-old will release an album of West End hits, entitled Centre Stage.
Kimberley started recording the disc in Stockholm with producers Per Magnusson and David Kreuger over the summer after signing with Decca Records.
She enthused: 'I've always loved musical theatre and doing Shrek: The Musical definitely re-ignited the passion in me.

'I really wanted to share the love I have for musical theatre by taking some classic songs and completely reinventing them.
'The melodies in so many musical songs are so brilliant I knew we could create something special by experimenting with the production and I really feel like we've come up with some interesting takes on classic songs.'
Kimberley's decision to go solo at the time comes as a surprise as it will coincide with the Girls Aloud reunion.

The five-piece, who were put together on reality show Popstars: The Rivals, are marking their 10th anniversary with a greatest hits album, new single and arena tour.
And of course, Kimberley is still training for Strictly Come Dancing, resulting in a very busy schedule for the singer.
She admitted: 'There’s a lot going on right now but I am loving every minute and can’t wait for people to hear these songs I’ve recorded.'

Clegg savages Cameron's plan to bring powers back from Brussels as a 'false promise wrapped in a Union Jack'

Nick Clegg yesterday branded David Cameron’s flagship European policy to reclaim powers from Brussels as ‘a false promise wrapped in a Union Jack’ that will drive the UK out of the EU.
It was the second ambush on the Prime Minister this week, after Labour aligned with Tory rebels and called on the Government to demand a cut in the EU budget.
The move led to the Government being defeated in the Commons on Wednesday night.

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg used a major speech at Chatham House in London to demolish the Tory idea of repatriating powers from the European Union
The Deputy Prime Minister denounced Mr Cameron’s approach as ‘nonsensical’ and insisted it is just ‘wishful thinking’ to imagine other nations will let Britain ‘unilaterally’ renegotiate its role in the EU.
And he said even starting down the track of renegotiation would lead to Britain  ending up ‘out of the European Union’.

His intervention means it will be  impossible for Mr Cameron to propose  any repatriation of powers before the  general election in 2015, despite repeated pledges to seize the ‘opportunity’ presented by changes to the eurozone to reclaim sovereignty.

Mr Cameron also came under fire from his backbenchers and German Chancellor Angela Merkel over the Brussels budget.
A day after 53 Tory rebels delivered a humiliating defeat to Mr Cameron by voting for a cut in the EU budget – rather than the real terms freeze the Prime Minister has advocated – Eurosceptics said they would vote against any budget that sees an increase in EU spending.
Rebel leader Mark Reckless said: ‘If the Government comes with anything except a cut in the EU budget, then they are not going to be able to get that through Parliament.’
To make matters worse for Mr Cameron, Mrs Merkel yesterday attacked his threat to veto any inflation-busting rise in the budget, saying a deal needs to be done quickly so the EU can concentrate on the crisis in the eurozone.
‘I don’t want to throw more vetoes into the room, it doesn’t help bring about a solution,’ she said.
Despite the Commons defeat, Downing Street made clear Mr Cameron will continue to argue for a freeze rather than a cut in the Brussels budget for the period 2014 to 2020, which will be thrashed out at a summit later this month.
Mr Clegg backed up the PM on this, saying there was ‘absolutely no prospect’ of securing a cut in the EU budget.
But he then accused Mr Cameron of ‘stamping his feet’ over the repatriation of powers to appease his Eurosceptic MPs with a promise he will never be able to deliver.
Mr Clegg said it was a ‘seductive offer’ to ‘opt out of the bad bits and stay opted in to the good bits’ of EU legislation.
Earlier this month Mr Cameron said the eurozone crisis presented an ‘opportunity for Britain to get a better settlement with Europe’ and he would ‘then seek fresh consent for that settlement’, probably in the form of as referendum.
But the Lib Dem leader told the Chatham House think tank: ‘A grand, unilateral repatriation of powers might sound appealing but, in reality, it is a false promise, wrapped in a Union Jack. This idea that we should, or could, extract ourselves from the bulk of EU obligations is nonsensical.’
Mr Cameron has said he thinks Britain is better off in the EU, but is under pressure to offer voters the option of leaving.
David Cameron made his promise to reach a new settlement with Brussels during the Tory party conference, but made no mention of it during his keynote speech

Mr Clegg said renegotiation could usher the UK to the exit door. ‘Let’s be honest, many of the people who advocate repatriation are the same people who want us out of Europe – full stop.’

Home Secretary Theresa May has published a list of 130 EU law and order measures she would like to bring back to Britain. But Mr Clegg indicated that he would be ‘led’ by the security services in insisting the UK stays in the European Arrest Warrant scheme, which many Tories want to ditch.
Mr Cameron last night insisted he would stand firm on the budget: ‘We should be absolutely clear this Government is taking the toughest approach to the EU budget of any government in this country’s history.

'If we don’t get what I consider to be a good deal for Britain I have no hesitation in vetoing the multi-financial package.’

No awkwardness here! Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart laugh and joke their way through first TV interview together since affair scandal

With Kristen Stewart's fling with director Rupert Sanders fresh in the minds of many Twilight fans, it can't have been a task she looked forward to.
But the actress looked relaxed and happy as she sat down for her first television interview with on-off-on again boyfriend and co-star Robert Pattinson.
The stars sat down with co-star Taylor Lautner for televised chats on MTV News and Entertainment Tonight on Thursday, to promote the forthcoming last instalment in the franchise, Breaking Dawn: Part II.

Topic for discussion were strictly franchised focussed, although did occasionally stray to Stewart and Pattinson's Halloween costumes and the trio's attitudes towards the press.
Stewart sat in the middle of the three stars, looking pretty in a blue and black top and black jeans while Pattinson sported a dark green blazer and shirt.
The real-life couple, who play Bella Swan and Edward Cullen in the hit franchise, are reported to have briefly split up after Stewart was photographed kissing her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders back in July.

Now, with the relationship very much back on, a relaxed Stewart admitted she would miss 'doing' press with her co-stars after four years.
'For the last few press junkets, they've been separating everyone which is silly. I think because we love hanging out,' she said.
The couple, who rarely discuss their relationship in public, seemed more than happy to talk about the Halloween party they attended together on Wednesday night.
'Oh yes, it looks awesome,' she said eyeing the photograph of herself in a pink bobbed wig and sunglasses. 'That's not fair. That's actually a really weird [photo].'

But Pattinson was initially reluctant to admit he was the man behind the creepy clear mask with eyebrows painted on.
'That's not me,' he exclaimed, laughing, admitting: 'I chose someone who is just genuinely terrifying. It was a $3 mask from a 7-Eleven.'
Stewart's choice was apparently an homage to one of her favourite movies Closer, where Natalie Portman wears a pink wig in some scenes.
'If you've seen that, that's one aspect of [Portman's] character. She changes a lot in that movie, but that's one part, yeah.'

Pattinson was his usual self-deprecating self in the interview, deflecting problematic questions with humour.
'I'd imagine it's quite like the scene where she's doing the pottery in Ghost,' he quipped, when quizzed about a sex scene in the film.
The cast also recalled the audition process for the first Twilight film, with Stewart having had a say in who director Catherine Hardwicke cast as Edward and Taylor's character Jacob Black.
'I take full credit for both of these guys actually,' she said sarcastically when asked if she was partially responsible for their success.

'I'm going to take credit for Kristen's,' chipped in Pattinson, who recalled he was 'crippled by nervousness' during his initial audition for the part which also involved having to take his shirt off.
'I said to Catherine "if this is what we're being judged on, I haven't got the job.'
Later on in the chat, the notoriously press-shy Stewart was mortified when footage was played of her conducting an interview at the MTV Awards back in 2008 - and even got up from her chair and started pacing in embarrassment
'Why? Why?' she said, adding sarcastically. 'That's a photo album, favourite thing for me.'
'People had no idea who were were,' added Pattinson. 'I did three interviews that day saying I was in Narnia.'

The stars were also asked about their memories from the franchise, with Pattinson recalling that fans of the Stephenie Meyer penned books were not exactly thrilled about his casting at first.
'Unanimous unhappiness, he remembered. 'I think it's come full circle and they hate me again.'
Clearly, the rest is history, with the trio reminded that the franchise had bagged 16 MTV Awards  - more than any other - including best kiss between Bella and Edward.
The trio were also joined by Twilight author Meyer who discussed her thoughts on the actors.

Earlier, the author had told Entertainment Tonight in another sit-down chat that there was the possibility of another instalment in Twilight 'someday.'

Pattinson also discussed the contrast between the first film and the latest one, which is released in the U.S. on November 16.
'It felt quite free and dangerous,' he mused. 'This one - the bigger something gets - it gets pretty heavy. You're part of a machine at that point.
'You know your face is still going to be on the front of it. But you have a little bit less control  - a lot less control. So it was kind of scary.'
